End of Platform Service
On June 30, 2023, we will end the service of our SwiftyBeaver cloud service, also known as Crypto Cloud or SwiftyBeaver Platform.
All data will be deleted from our database and systems and all subscriptions and accounts cancelled and you will no longer be able to create new accounts or upload new logging data.
The SBPlatformDestination of the SwiftyBeaver Framework and the SwiftyBeaver macOS app will no longer work after this date.
It is recommended to remove the SBPlatformDestination from your app as soon as possible and to use the SBConsoleDestination instead to avoid any issues caused by the SBPlatformDestination trying to send logs to a non-existing cloud service.
What is the SwiftyBeaver Platform?
SwiftyBeaver is a logging platform for Swift that enables the convenient and
secure receiving and analyzing of logs, user and device data from your app. It is
a cloud service that is used by the SwiftyBeaver Framework's
SBPlatformDestination and the SwiftyBeaver macOS app.
The SBPlatformDestinatio of the SwiftyBeaver Framework sends encrypted logs to the SwiftyBeaver platform where they are stored and then downloaded and decrypted by The SwiftyBeaver macOS app.
What is changing?
SwiftyBeaver is discontinuing its platform cloud service on June 30, 2023. This means that the SwiftyBeaver macOS app will not be receiving encrypted logs anymore which were sent by the SBPlatformDestination of the SwiftyBeaver Framework. The SBPlatformDestination will no longer work after this date and will not accept any new logs sent from your app.
All your data will be deleted from our database and systems and all subscriptions and accounts cancelled. You will no longer be able to create new accounts or upload new logging data.
What happens to the SwiftyBeaver open-source logging framework?
The SwiftyBeaver open-source logging framework will continue to be available on Github and will continue to be maintained and updated.
How does it affect me?
If you are using the SBPlatformDestination of the SwiftyBeaver Logging Framework then you will need to remove the SBPlatformDestination from your app code before June 30, 2023. Otherwise, your app will try to send logs to a non-existing cloud service and may cause errors or performance issues.
What are my alternatives?
You can still use the SwiftyBeaver Framework for local logging to Xcode Console or your Mac via its other logging destinations. You can also use other cloud-based logging services such as Firebase Crashlytics or Sentry.
